Marion, Iowa, is a community in Linn County, in east-central Iowa. The prosperous community has grown by over a third since 2000. Today, more than 35,000 people live in Marion.
The town is named after a hero of the Revolutionary War, Francis Marion. It became the county seat of Linn County when it was first established in 1839. In 1919, county voters, named Cedar Rapids as the new county seat. St. Berchtman's was a boys' boarding school from 1905 to 1942. At one time, actor Don Ameche lived and studied there.
